MHA Methodist Homes for the Aged

There are three Homes in our South Warwickshire Circuit: Cedar Lawn, Cedar Lodge and Homewood.

Cedar Lawn

Was built in 1970 by Mr.E.K.Youell of Stratford On Avon and was opened in association with The Sheldon Trust. In 1997 an extension was added, gifted by the Youell Foundation in memory of the Home’s founder and of his son-in-law, Roy Bamford.  This raised the Home’s capacity from 24 to 34.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a slow ten minute walk away.  The nearest bus stop is around the corner in St.Gregory’s Road.  Stratford Methodist Church is about a twenty minute walk into Old Town.

The Home relies on the commitment and dedication of staff and volunteers who share the mission and values of the Company.  By the direction of a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator, gardening, knitting, sewing, painting, slow exercise and singing are just a few of the activities enjoyed by the residents throughout their stay. Volunteers and paid-for entertainment attend the home and provide stimulation and enjoyment.

A hair and nail salon is provided. Themed Events – including Easter and Christmas Celebrations, Valentine’s Day are held each year.  The Home is supported by a Chaplain.

Homewood

We provide personalised residential care for our 50 residents, in purpose-built, en suite accommodation, located in the leafy suburbs of Leamington Spa.

It’s a wonderfully calm and welcoming space, where we provide tailored care in a warm, supportive and safe environment We also offer short-term respite care.

Our regular exercise sessions, reflexology, tai chi and our own hair salon help keep you feeling and looking your best.

Cedar Lodge

Set in the heart of Warwickshire, Cedar Lodge has a person-centred focus to respect and nurture the individuality of each resident.

We provide care and support for people with dementia who require residential care, and nursing care for those who require registered nurse support.

By getting to know each resident in detail – their personal history, likes and dislikes – we ensure truly personalised care to help people get the most out of every day.

Eat Out To Help MHA Out

As lockdown is lifting, it is not yet known how long the effects of the coronavirus pandemic will impact the lives of older people. With limited contact from friends and family, some are left feeling lonely and cut off from society.

If you’re taking advantage of the Government’s new ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme during August, why not do something amazing with the 50% you save on your meal and donate it to MHA so that we can enable older people to live later life well?

Your donations, large or small, could help provide even more telephone befriending calls, hot meal deliveries, online sessions – dance classes, bingo, singing and quizzes, to wellbeing and activity packs delivered straight to doors.

As the UK’s largest charity care provider, we enable people to live later life well, and are dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation throughout this pandemic and beyond.
